Story
I find working with clay is so addictive, there's something incredibly satisfying about moulding each piece and seeing it take shape in it's own unique way. Sometimes i don't even know what i'm going to make before i start!
I'm a hand builder at heart and love making small unique items inspired by the nature around me.
Glazing my work is trial and error, I love the variety of colours that can come from experimenting with different temperatures, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't! but i enjoy the drama and anticipation of it all :) ..... most of the time.
Process
All my items are hand built from white earthenware or stoneware clay, glazed and fired in my little studio.
Everything is handmade by me, making each piece completely unique.
All finished items are sniffed for final approval by Louie (my beautiful four-legged chief quality inspector), he loves getting in on the photo's on my finished items!
Products and Social
I create some functional pieces, but mainly design and create ornamental pieces, inspired by the nature surrounding me in Lincolnshire.
I'm currently working on a number of seasonal items, taking inspiration from the natural world.
I'm pleased to announce that a selection of these are on display and available for purchase at the Natural World Centre in Thorpe-on-the-Hill, Lincoln!
I also have some items for sale in my Etsy shop at https://pottyjax.etsy.com. - I'll always aim to ship any items within 4 days of purchase, I only ship to the UK at the moment.
